What you need to do
There are only a few simple steps to become a taxi driver, and the whole process can take as little as 28 days:
  1. Call Central QLD TAFE on 1300 278 233 to book your NMES (National Minimum English Standards) Assessment *Black & White Cabs can facilitate this assessment
  2. Apply to The Department of Transport and Main Roads for Driver Authorisation
  3. Obtain a health assessment from your local GP
  4. Attend Black & White Cabs Dryandra Rd, Hamilton to book your taxi driver training course
  5. Attend our taxi driver training course
  6. Successfully complete all initial assessments
  7. Receive your "Confirmation of Training Document" (this will be mailed to your postal address)
  8. Pick up your Provisional Drivers Authority from the Department of Transport and Main Roads
  9. Affiliate with Black & White Cabs (be approved to drive for us)
  10. Attend Stage Two Training at Black & White Cabs, 11 Dryandra Rd, Brisbane Airport (you will be notified when you need to attend via the dispatch system in car)
  11. Receive your "Statement of Attainment" (this will be mailed to your postal address)
  12. Pick up your Full Drivers Authority from Department of Transport and Main Roads
